Frequently Asked QuestionswHAT are common types of arthritis ?
What is ideal age for knee replacement ?
There are no absolute age or weight restrictions for total knee replacement surgery.
Recommendations for surgery are based on a patient’s pain and disability, not age. Most patients who undergo total knee replacement are age 50 to 80, but patients need to be evaluated individually. what is arthroscopy & its Benefits ?
Arthroscopy is a surgical procedure in which an arthroscope (a small instrument ) is inserted into a joint.
The benefits of arthroscopy involve smaller incisions, faster healing, a more rapid recovery and less scaring. Arthroscopic surgical procedures are often performed on OPD basis and the patient is able to return home the same day. Arthroscopy is performed in an operating room under anaesthesia. The arthroscope is a small fibre optic instrument made up of tiny lens, light source and video camera. The surgical instruments used are very small (only 3 or 4 mm in diameter). The television camera attached to the arthroscope displays the image of the joint, on a television screen, allowing the surgeon to look throughout the joint-at cartilage, ligaments, and the muscles. The surgeon can determine the amount or type of injury, and then repair or correct the problem, if it is necessary. |
